Many of us find success in business. We equate that with success in life. And, why not? We race through the days, months, and years of accumulating the trappings of that success - title, power, respect, recognition, financial security.... It feels good. For many of us that's enough. Job well done.
But there exists a portion of the world who, as the culmination of that journey approaches, awaken one day with the worry that they've done some of it wrong. Maybe more than just some of it. That happened to me.
Likely, I would have gone on telling myself I was fulfilled. Happy. I was 'successful', right? What's not to be happy about. But circumstances changed and when they did, this time I stopped racing to the next thing. I took myself far away and invested in looking at myself, my life, and what I might have gotten wrong. I looked into the deeper past as well. I hoped it would be another way of seeing myself more clearly. Maybe differently. Looking at my own history as well as my family's wasn't easy. But I knew in the past were beliefs that may have driven decisions I made and the life I pursued.
In that journey of distance, reflection, searching, and listening, I let go of old thinking, and saw new things in myself. Things which led me to new ventures and a new path forward.
I hope The Bath House touches a chord in the heart of those of you heading to the next phase of life, where success can be driven by your own deep knowledge that you can be even more than you have been.
