The Bath House — Seeking Agent and Publisher

The Bath House circa 1958, Achladokambos, Arcadia, Peloponnese, Greece

The Bath House

Elaine books an impetuous trip to Greece during a moment of enormous self-doubt after being terminated from a high power, high stakes position. There she repairs and refuels herself in the beautiful, bountiful, and welcoming world of rural Greece with its luscious food, breathtaking vistas, and warm people.

But the trip takes her far beyond her planned one-month escape. It leads her to a solace and emotional nourishment long missing from her life. Lifelong wounds begin to heal in the balm of the slow pace of life on the island of Thasos. But it is when she works up the courage to visit the small mountain village of her ancestry that she gains a new understanding of herself, her family, and its story.

The Bath House chronicles her journey as she is welcome into the embrace of the village’s close-knit community. In her Xorio, the home of her heart in Greece, she discovers that truth and myth can blend to become something magical. And as she falls in love with her grandfather’s village, its valley, people, and history, Elaine finds the path to a new understanding of herself, her heritage, and her future.

I built a cairn with 8 stones I found in the island's ancient marble quarry. They are perfect white ovals smoothed by 2000 years of sea and sun. The cairn will be my way-finding compass. I like that each time I rebuild it, the cairn can be different. There is no exact order to it. It is what I make
